Hi BOLDie,
BOLD turned two today, which means I’ve officially survived two whole years as an entrepreneur 😱
This time two years ago, as I got ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship, I told myself all I actually needed was to make enough to keep the lights on, and if I could do that while working on my own clock, I would have succeeded. I felt so tired of pouring my precious time and energy into work that felt meaningless to me, and freedom was the thing I craved the most.

Before starting the business, I’d had some of the toughest years of my life. Most people know me as “Amy from BOLD” and don’t really know who I was before this. Even since starting the business, anyone who’s done it knows how hard it can be. It’s so good some weeks, and terrible the next. This is why it’s important to have the right support around you, and to keep an equilibrium (I try not to get too happy with the wins or too sad with the losses), which is definitely a WIP 😅
I want people to know a bit more about my journey, because although it might look shiny from the outside, there’s a lot more than meets the eye. We can never assume what people have going on behind the scenes, which is why we should never compare ourselves to others.
The last five years went as follows:
📍 2021: A bad breakup, lost one of my best friends to suicide and another in a bike accident, left Berlin to move back to my hometown for the first time in 13 years due to acute grief.
📍 2022: Took time off to heal, attended grief counselling, did some solo travel, landed my dream job at Twitter Dublin (after ten interviews). Got promoted within six months. Started to feel hope. Made friends in Dublin. Loved my job. Along came Elon.
📍 2023: Got laid off in a terrible job market, moved back to London. Received a great job offer, got ghosted by the recruiter. Hit rock bottom again, contracted viral meningitis, started a business with a terrible choice of co-founder, moved to Lisbon, got my ADHD diagnosis. Moved back home again to figure things out.
📍 2024: Stepped away from co-founder, had a gross legal battle, eventually walked away. Went all in on my LinkedIn, got a Top Voice badge, got flown to Berlin by Anna Ott to speak at HV's summer event. Secured a UK-based fractional content & events role; moved to Bristol. Produced five events in six weeks across the EU & US. Burned out. Quit contract, registered a company. Announced it on LinkedIn. Aer Lingus & öogo were my first official clients.
📍2025: Fully booked with clients by Feb, invited to speak at LinkedIn HQ with Daisy Morris; Shay Loko and Alyssa Jaffer. Started a podcast. Got featured in LinkedIn News. Ran four BOLD events in London with 90+ attendees; onboarded dream client (Chapter 2); pivoted to cohorts, consulting SMB founders, and team workshops. Quit podcast. Took part in TEDx Bristol. Said yes to everything. Made loads of mistakes. Exhausted myself. Went viral. Fell in love.
📍 2026: Became VAT registered. Helped launch The Secret HR Society in London. Ran first BOLD event in Bristol (sold out). Survived first tax return. Supported incredible Founders with LinkedIn. Became a Canvassador. Led the launch for Chapter 2’s new AI sourcing tool. Taught myself Claude. Went to Cologne for Tony Robbins, spent one night in A&E. Had surgery for health issues, took a break. Said no to things. Didn’t beat myself up for not posting on LinkedIn. Shared the stage with Daniel Priestley. Made it to our second birthday.
Entrepreneurship is a TOTAL rollercoaster. It is up one week, and down the next. I’ve survived it by telling myself that no matter how hard it gets, if I put in the work, the tide will always turn.
I’m so bloody grateful to everyone who's come on the journey with me. My clients who trusted me in the early days, even without proof I was worth investing in. My friends, family and my BF Carl who’ve all been SO supportive of me doing this. Not getting annoyed if I have to work late or move things around to prioritise my clients, which is especially important in the early days.
And finally, the crew I couldn’t have done it without: the BOLD Women community, who've supported me EVERY step of the way. These are the most supportive group you could meet (join our WhatsApp Chat here).
I dreamt of working for myself for years, but let fear, self-doubt, and others’ judgment hold me back.
I’m SO proud of myself for being BOLD, and I hope to inspire others to do the same 🩷
I posted this on LinkedIn today, and it’s had an unbelievable response. I had a quick cry reading all the lovely comments. Share your wins; let people support you!
#stayBOLD.
