Hi BOLDie
This week, I’m sharing how the amazing BOLDie day 1 Alexandra Aileru recently visited LinkedIn HQ, and shared the tea on our weekly community call.

There she is
Alexandra and I found each other last year (on LinkedIn whoda thunk!?), where she slid into my DM’s with the most wonderful message, this is how you do it:

She came at me with immediate value, offering to share my upcoming event with her community. We got on a call straight away and spoke for an hour. Since then, she’s spoken at or been involved in most of my events and has become a pillar of my BOLD Community. THIS is how you slide into someone’s DM: lead with immediate value, ask for nothing and make it seem like they’re the only one you are messaging that day.
Alexandra is one of those people who, if you give her an opportunity, she shows up 110%. You have to hold on tight to those people.
Anyway, I digress….
The TL:DR from Alexandra’s recent trip to LinkedIn is here:
1. Contribute more, consume less. Alex's core philosophy: see yourself as a person of value. Your LinkedIn presence should be about giving with no expectation. Before you post, ask: "What am I adding to this conversation?"
2. Start with your story - founder-led content wins. Share how you got to where you are. People buy into the person behind the brand. Alex built her business (Confident Career Switch) by being radically honest about her own career pivot from education to project management. Your origin story is your most powerful piece of content.
3. Treat your LinkedIn page like a physical shop. If someone walks in and touches a dress, you'd go talk to them. Do the same online. When someone likes or comments on your post, slide into their DMs: "Hey, I noticed you engaged. Are you open to a chat?" Turn engagement into conversation.
4. Switch your profile to show Followers, not Connections. Go to Settings → Privacy → Followers and switch your display. Showing "500+ connections" caps your perceived reach and looks dated. Followers signal creator authority and allow people who don't know you to follow without connecting.
5. Reflect on your career journey as ongoing content. Don't just post about where you are — document the journey. People relate to challenges, pivots, and lessons learned far more than polished success posts. This is the engine for evergreen content that stays relevant long after you post it.
6. Diversify your content formats - polls and carousels are your friends. Alex emphasised not sticking to one format. Polls drive engagement fast. Carousels educate and get saved. Text posts build trust. Mixing formats keeps your audience engaged and tells the algorithm you're an active creator.
7. Stop being overly promotional - lead with value first. Don't pitch. Don't sell in every post. Alex was direct: if your content reads like an ad, people scroll past. Lead with insight, a lesson, a relatable moment - your offer becomes the natural next step.
8. Be authentic, not formulaic - ditch the "LinkedIn playbook." There's a recognisable "LinkedIn voice" that people have learned to ignore. Alex stressed being genuinely yourself. Your quirks, your real opinions, your actual experiences are what make people stop scrolling.
9. Engage proactively - expand your network with intention. Don't wait for the algorithm to do the work. If someone visits your profile, that's a signal of interest — reach out. Actively look for conversations to join, people to connect with, and communities to contribute to. Visibility is built through action, not just posting.
10. Create evergreen content as a long-term digital asset. Alex highlighted that great LinkedIn content doesn't expire. A post about career transitions or navigating job searches can resurface months later and still bring in leads. Think of each post as a digital asset — write things that will still be relevant in a year.
The same principles also apply to anyone looking to make a career pivot. You can use LinkedIn to showcase the full breadth of your experience and show future managers how you think and what you care about. If you need help with this - Alexandra supports professionals to land roles within 90 days and achieve up to a 60% pay rise (I’ve seen the receipts 🤯). You can also check her out on TikTok or IG to get a better feel (mention you found her via BOLD to get some extra special love 💓).
I hope you found all this advice as useful as I did. More exciting updates coming soon (our BOLD events calendar is almost ready 😄).
Stay BOLD!
